Goulburn Goes Solar

Warrigal has a target to reduce GHG emissions by 6% on 2014 levels by 2020.With the significant upgrades to improve the comfort of our homes and the development of new locations, our energy consumption (and Greenhouse Gas Emissions) were climbing rather than dwindling.

To combat this, Warrigal has partnered with Solgen Energy Group and Splice Electrical to roll out 520kW of rooftop solar across all of our Residential Care Homes. By the end of 2017, all of Warrigal's Residential care Homes will be generating clean, renewable energy via large scale solar systems. We will have reduced our GHG emissions by 15%, more than double our target reduction of 6%. This will have the same effect as taking 134 cars off the road every year.

Goulburn was our pilot project, and just before Christmas we completed the installation of a 99.76kW system, a total of 344 solar panels. Within three (3) months we have produced 40MW of energy and saved $8,000 in energy bills. Since we are a not-for -profit, this money will be used to improve the services that we provide to the community.

In addition, Warrigal have been successful in receiving $10,000 worth of support from the NSW Government to develop a clean energy strategy to become net zero energy!
