Warrigal hosts book launch to celebrate International Day of Older Persons

Warrigal will hold an exclusive book launch for 80 year old author Dr. Anne Ring’s latest work – ‘Engaging with Ageing - What Matters as we Grow Older’. The launch will tie in with celebrations for International Day of Older Persons, a day to highlight the important contributions that older people make to society and raise awareness of the issues and challenges of ageing in today's world.

With a population that is living longer and healthier than ever before, the book addresses the tough questions about the later years of life, as well as discusses the wide range of opportunities, challenges, and experiences of ageing. From body and mind, family and home, health, death, leisure and everything in between, ‘Engaging with Ageing – What Matters as we Grow Older’ celebrates individuals managing how they age in a way that suits them.

Warrigal CEO, Mark Sewell, said “We’re delighted to be able to hold this event at our Warrigal Shell Cove Retirement community that has people living there between the ages of 65 and 105, particularly as we begin our string of celebrations for International Day of Older Persons. Ageing is something that affects all of us, and to open this dialogue about all experiences, both positive and challenging, is so important.”

He continued, “We want to combat the scourge of ageism in our community, while celebrating and supporting older people at every step of their ageing process. To have this new resource and guide both for those growing older, and for those who care for people who are getting older in some way, whether as family or as professional carers, is of a huge benefit.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the author, and engage in a Q&A session on ageing matters. Copies of ‘Engaging with Ageing – What Matters as we Grow Older’ will also be available for purchase on the day.
